How to Set Up Satellite Internet to your Computer
In some areas, high speed internet isn’t yet available. If you are residing in such areas, chances are you have already though about getting satellite internet connection. Satellite internet as the name suggests is the best option for areas where DSL and Cable internet is not yet available. This is because with satellite internet the connection is sent and received though signal in the air using satellite dish. The satellite dish sends and receive signal to the satellite dish that’s orbiting Earth and then to and from your computer. High-speed satellite internet providers usually install these dishes and other equipment needed to pass the internet signal back and forth to their customers.
However, there are instances wherein customers buy their own equipment and just call the satellite internet company to give them a connection. Some thinks that this is a lot practical because you are cutting the installation fees and even the get discounts on equipment. For whatever reason you need to install your satellite internet connection to your computer here are some steps that could help:
Step 1 – Look for a good location to install the satellite dish
You may look at some of your neighbors’ houses and check where their satellite dishes are pointing. This is probably where the signals are best transmitted. You may choose to install the satellite internet dish on top of your roof or just have a metal pole support where you can install the dish and then into your roof for better signal. Drill holes on the metal rod or just where you plan to fasten your satellite dish into. And then fill the holes with silicone caulk to prevent water from leaking into the system.
Step 2 – Install the dish
After than install the satellite dish and then fasten the device. Most of these satellite dishes come with installation kits so you don’t have to buy one. Now, be sure that the dish is well fastened into the mount in case big storms and strong winds hit you.
Step 3 – Attach the coaxial cable to your dish and into the modem
Once the dish is installed, you can now connect the coaxial cables into the feed horns of the dish and the other ends inside house where the modem is located. Your cables should indicate “sat in” and “sat out”. Install both ends on the right port on the modem.
Step 4 – Attach the Ethernet cord into the modem and into your computer
Attaching the Ethernet cord into the modem is the final step. Just connect the Ethernet cord into the port located at the back of the modem and then the other end of the cord into the Ethernet port of your computer and you are good to go. This is how to install the modem of your satellite internet.
